The Serie 'Sutton en Blues'

Productios Kazou
presents at l'Auberge des Appalaches the
8th edition
with musicians from Toronto, Niagara, Hamilton, Lévis, Montréal, Stanstead

Our 2009 program

From Toronto,
Fathead, October 17th
http://www.fathead.biz/
The series takes off with a roar on October 17th when Fathead makes a rare visit to Québec. Winner in 2008 of a Juno for 'Blues Recording Of The Year', it was their 2nd Juno in that category. This year, Fathead's frontman, John Mays won his 4th Maple Blues Award for 'Male Vocalist Of The Year'. Their bassist, Omar Tunnoch, has received an 'Honorable mention' in the 2008 International Songwriting Competition. Al Lerman, saxophone and harmonica, won the same honours in 2005. No other group invited at Sutton en Blues has been that meritorious. Not to be missed.

From Niagara,
Johnny Max Band, October 24th
http://www.johnnymaxband.com/
Real Blues Magazine has proclaimed them 'Best Live Act/Central Canada'. A 5-piece band that will nail you to the dance floor with an infernal mix straight out of New Orleans through Memphis and Chicago. Their sound bounces from Howlin' Wolf to Dr. John and Albert King. If you love to dance this is your band.

From Lévis,
Glenn Gillis & The Blues Experiment, October 31st
http://freewebs.com/glennbluesartist/
They are in town just in time to celebrate Halloween with us on this October 31st. And what a party that will be! Glenn is a Peace & Love child. He ails from the likes of Mike Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, B.B.King and The Paul Butterfiel Blues Band. A bluesman who's been around the Blues since he was fourteen. He plays a solid Blues anchored in the Flower Power era, one of the best ever. Don't forget your dancing' shoes and come party with us.

From Montréal,
Bob Harrisson, November 7th
http://www.montreal.tv/portail/view_video.php?viewkey=02b8f0adf6f7dc36aed9
The Québec King of Blues, Bob Harrisson, stops in Sutton on November 7th. What can we say about Bob, a career that spans 50 years, a legendary drummer for Offenback, a life with more ups and downs that most, turned bluesman in 1984 and now a new man, (thanks to a good woman), and a brand new 'CD' "Entre Nous" which he will showcase for us. It's the rebirth of this Cowansville native of which B.B.King said he was one of the best bluesman he ever heard.

From Stanstead,
Mike Goudreau Boppin' Blues, November 14th
http://www.mikegoudreau.ca/
One of the greats will be here on November 14th. Real Blues Magazine said of the Mike Goudreau & The Boppin' Blues Band that they were one of the most talented bands in Canada and elected them as .Best Band in Eastern Canada" (1996); "Best Unsigned Band in Canada" (1999); and "Best swing Band" (1999). It's always a pleasure to hear that band groove and swing. Mike is one of Canada's best kept secret.

From Hamilton
Steve Strongman, November 21st
http://www.stevestrongman.com/
He is the 2009 recipient of the prestigious Mel Brown Blues Award; a Maple Blues Awards nominee in 2008 for the Best guitarist of the Year"; and in 2007 nominated as "Best New Artist". He recently received standing ovations while opening for the legendary Buddy Guy on his Canadian tour dates. Steve is a dynamic and preeminent player who has firmly estblished himself in the top ranks of the Canadian Blues music scene. An outstanding showman, he has all the indregients to close off the series with a serious bang.
